DEPARTMENT OF PASTORAL MINISTRY

PM 101 PASTORAL MINISTRY I 1.5 hours

A comprehensive survey of the various responsibilities of the pastorate. This includes sections on preparation, Sunday School, staff, weddings, funerals, finance, revivals, special services, baptism and many more.

PM 102 PASTORAL MINISTRY II 1.5 hours

The concluding survey of the pastorate begun in

PM 101.

PM 105 PERSONAL EVANGELISM 1.5 hours

A course concerning the commission and implementation of confrontational soul winning.

PM 110 TIME MANAGEMENT 1.5 hours

A survey of the management of the time which the Lord has given us, and we have surrendered to His work.

PM 200 HOMILETICS I – SERMON PREPARATION

1.5 hours

Prayer, daily devotion, sermon and lesson preparation, strategies and delivery of sermons.

PM 201 APPLIED HOMILETICS – CHAPEL

1.5 hours

Practical experience in delivery of sermons prepared for the services.

PM 205 INDEPENDENT STUDY 1.5 hours

A semester study of an assigned subject approved by the Department Head. The curriculum and assignments will be designed by that officer for the student.

PM 215 THE CHURCH 1.5 hours

This course surveys the Biblical foundation of the church. The duties and requirements of the officers of the church are covered. The pastor’s responsibility and obligation to God in relationship to the church is reviewed.

PM 250 PERSONAL FINANCES 1.5 hours

A survey of financial planning and strategies for the servant of God are given.

PM 275 GREAT PREACHERS 1.5 hours

Historical survey course studying some of the great men of God, their lives and accomplishments for Him.

PM 285 SPEECH 1.5 to 3 hours

An overview of the various types of speech and the preparation and delivery of each.

PM 305 LEADERSHIP 1.5 hours

A course designed to study the principles of leadership as it pertains to the duties of a Christian leader. Emphasis is placed on the office of Pastor.

PM 310 FUNDAMENTALS OF MUSIC 1.5 hours

A survey course to familiarize the ministerial student with the basics of music.

PM 315 MUSIC THEORY AND DIRECTION 1.5 hours

A course of fundamental music theory and instruction in the direction of choir or instrumental groups.

PM 325 PSYCHOLOGY OF COUNSELING I

1.5 to 3 hours

A survey course designed for Christian counseling

PM 330 PSYCHOLOGY OF COUNSELING II

1.5 to 3 hours

The conclusion of the principles of Christian counseling begun in PM 325

PM 350 BIBLE STUDY METHODS 1.5 hours

A study of Bible preparation for teaching or preaching. Some practical suggestions offered for outlining and note preparation.

PM 405 CHURCH PLANTING 1.5 hours

Practical methods and purposes of planting churches. Practical experience offered by professor.

PM 410 GOD’S PURPOSE FOR ADVERSITY 1.5 hours

A practical study of the trials and adversities of this transient existence, yet noting the purpose of God.

PM 420 PASTORAL COUNSELING 1.5 hours

A study of how the pastor can help his people as they pass through this "veil of tears"

PM 425 HISTORICAL CHURCH MUSIC 1.5 hours

A look through history at the authors, scores and lyrics that have been a part of the worship of our God in the church. A brief study of some hymn histories.

PM 435 MARRIAGE AND FAMILY COUNSELING

1.5 to 3 hours

Practical suggestions and experiences offered for Biblical counseling with family oriented problems and situations.

PM 450 SUNDAY SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION

1.5 hours

A course of study designed to help the prospective pastoral student or Sunday School worker to implement an effective program for the church.

PM 455 CHURCH ADMINISTRATION 1.5 hours

An overview of the enormous task of directing the various ministries of the church, their purpose, and organization.

PM 480-489 Special random course offerings

PM 505 GRADUATE INDEPENDENT STUDY 1.5 hours

Independent study for the graduate student under the direction of the Department Head.
